The voyage
in a few words
In the heart of the Lofoten Islands
In March, the days grow longer and nature slowly awakens after the long polar night. Bright spring days give way to starry nights, often lit up by the magical dance of the northern lights.
Towering fjords, snowy landscapes, strings of islands and the Svartisen Glacier: here, Norway reveals all the power and beauty of its wild nature. Aboard Polarfront, sail close to the coast and glide into the narrowest fjords for a rare, exclusive experience in the heart of the Lofoten Islands.

01Bodø
Boarding at 5:00 p.m. and welcome aboard Polarfront.
Get to know the ship and your living spaces over a welcome cocktail.
We set sail at 6:00 p.m.
02Svartisen Glacier
At the head of a fjord, you’ll reach the Svartisen ice cap, the second-largest glacier in Norway. Its deep blue blends with the green of the fjord’s waters and the surrounding vegetation.
The glacier is part of Saltfjellet-Svartisen National Park, one of the most spectacular geological formations in mainland Norway and home to abundant wildlife, including the wolverine, the lynx, the moose and the Arctic fox.
03Western Lofoten Islands
Polarfront will call at Leknes, the central port of the Lofoten archipelago.
You’ll visit the village of Nusfjord, one of the best-preserved fishing villages in Norway. A stop in Reine offers an incredible view over this postcard-perfect corner of Lofoten.
You can then stroll through the charming village of Å, a museum village that celebrates cod fishing.
04Eastern Lofoten Islands
The day begins with the long sandy beaches of the north.
In Eggum, you’ll walk in the footsteps of World War II history.
Next, we’ll take you to Henningsvær, a fishing village at the tip of a peninsula. Nicknamed “the Venice of Lofoten,” Henningsvær is probably the most appealing spot in the archipelago.
Finally, you’ll visit the Viking museum at Borg, where you’ll enjoy a traditional meal around a fire in a reconstructed Viking house.
05Trollfjord
Let yourself be carried through one of Norway’s narrowest fjords: the Trollfjord.
Its name comes from the many tales and myths inspired by its mysterious splendor.
Just 2,000 meters long and only 100 meters wide, the Trollfjord is yours to explore by polar pedal boat or Zodiac. Or take in its steep shores from the warmth of the Nordic hot tub or the panoramic sauna.
06Senja
In the morning, weather permitting, you’ll sail off the Vesterålen Islands, above an underwater trench, on the lookout for sperm whales.
Over lunch, Polarfront will head for Senja. Senja rivals Lofoten in beauty, yet sees far fewer visitors. It’s an island to explore slowly, to fully appreciate its quiet, natural beauty. A broad farming plain meets the sea on the island’s east coast, facing the mainland.
We’ll take you on a beautiful hike.
07Tromsø
Some 400 kilometers north of the Arctic Circle, on the 69th parallel, the small city of Tromsø is nicknamed “the gateway to the Arctic.” Nestled between icy fjords and jagged peaks, Tromsø
spreads across the eastern tip of the island of Tromsøya.
After riding the famous Fjellheisen cable car up to a breathtaking viewpoint over the city, you’ll visit the Arctic Cathedral, whose architecture evokes glacial crevasses and the northern lights.
Finally, you’ll visit the Polar Museum, devoted to the wildlife, plants and history of the Arctic and the race to the Poles.
08Tromsø
This is where this wonderful adventure comes to an end.
Disembarkation is at 9:00 a.m., after breakfast.
