Soon you’re off to Greenland
You’re about to set off on an extraordinary adventure along one of the wildest coastlines on the planet. A trip to these isolated regions calls for a little preparation and the right gear.
Here is some practical information to help you prepare for your voyage.
To travel to Greenland, all you need is a valid passport; no visa is required.
On board Polarfront and in accommodations in Norway and Iceland, power outlets are the European standard type and supply 220 volts, 50 Hz.
There’s no need to change money into Norwegian or Icelandic krónur. Cards are accepted everywhere in Norway and Iceland, and the euro is the official currency on board Polarfront (you can pay for drinks and extras by card or in cash).
At the end of the voyage, if you’d like to thank the crew for their service, tips can be paid by card or in cash.
On our voyages, we want you to enjoy a unique experience in harmony with nature, which is why we encourage you to take a break from screens. That said, we completely understand that, for personal or professional reasons, you may want to stay in touch or simply remain reachable.
A few hours after Polarfront sets sail, cell phones lose service.
Polarfront now has a Starlink antenna, giving you internet access on your personal devices throughout the voyage. On board, ask our Chief Steward for the login details.
In summer, the average temperature in Greenland hovers around 5°C (41°F). However, depending on the weather, temperatures can drop quickly. Be sure to bring clothes that will keep you warm.
You can wear the suit over your ski gear or under your ski jacket, whichever you prefer.

Ship’s biscuits
At sea, cookies are called ship’s biscuits, and our polar bear loves them. A few are essential to sail this website; the others, such as YouTube’s for our films, only come on board with your consent.
Ship’s biscuits · Ship’s manifest
Every biscuit is listed on the manifest, and the bear on watch awaits your orders: you decide which ones embark. Your choice is kept for six months and can be changed at any time.
Without them the ship would not float: the website language, form security and remembering your choices. They do nothing else and never follow you around.
