Dress
in layers
In the fall, the average temperature in Spitsbergen hovers around 0°C (32°F). However, depending on the weather, temperatures can drop quickly. Be sure to bring clothes that will keep you warm.
As a general rule, just as for a ski trip, bring several layers of clothing so you can adjust to the weather (thermal base layers, tops and bottoms, fleeces, ski jacket and pants, gloves, warm hats, neck gaiter, etc.), plus warm, waterproof high-top boots. We provide extreme-cold suits for Zodiac outings.
