The shipping company

LATITUDE BLANCHE –  the polar french line

Born in 2017, Latitude Blanche is a modern French shipping company.

The company was founded by two former master mariners, Yann Le Bellec and Sophie Galvagnon.

After many years of ice navigation in all polar regions, they decided to create a new concept, fitting their passion and vision of polar exploration.

Driven by their passion, by the need to create and to enhance their competences, both of them believe in hard work, curiosity and creativity.

Sophie GALVAGNON

Half Swedish, half French, Sophie Galvagnon contracted polar fever early in her career and developed a passion for ice-navigation on various types of ships, including polar expedition ships and icebreakers. Working abroad, in different environments, helped her to develop an « outside the box » way of think and improve existing system or create new ones

Yann LE BELLEC

Born a seaman, Yann Le Bellec developed a passion for the shipping industry that never stopped increase. Also “diagnosed” with polar fever, he has worked in polar areas onboard different ships, notably as an ice pilot.

Safety and environmental management have no secrets for him as he has been in charge of those departments in a large shipping company. Yann Le Bellec is a multiskilled manager always looking for enhanced performance.

Our expertise

We imagined our dream expedition ship: strong and reliable, small and comfortable. We gave our dream a real dimension in 2017 by purchasing and renovating Polarfront and since then we have been managing our cruise line company to provide unforgettable experiences to our passengers.

Reinforced for the ice to get as close as possible to the icebergs and the pack ice in complete safety and to offer this unforgettable spectacle to a dozen passengers eager for a real polar adventure…

We want to offer remarkable voyages as well as share and sensitize people to the most remote regions of the world.
