Its east coast, facing the Greenland Sea, is one of the most remote regions of the Arctic. For much of the year, this ice blocks access by sea. Only at the end of the Arctic summer, from late July to September, does the coast clear enough for a ship to explore it: it is the only window of the year.<\/p>\n<p>Even then, the ice has the final say. The state of the sea ice and the weather decide the route every day: the captain and our guides adapt the itinerary, and the places described on our voyage pages are the ones we aim for, with no guarantee of reaching them all.
